I Can Feel Christmas in the Air
I have to confess: I started listening to Christmas music on November 1st.
I just can’t help it. This is our third Christmas in Brogdon House, yet the first one where I’ll get to decorate. (In 2007 we moved in the Sunday before Thanksgiving and were still unpacking and in 2008 I was on the dreaded bedrest.)
And I think I’m going to go all out. We’re talking multiple trees–my tree in the parlor filled with 1950s Shiny Brite ornaments, a faux-vintage Blue Christmas tree in MM’s room, and probably a traditional tree with homemade ornaments too. I’m going to do garland outside on both the upstairs and downstairs porches (I even got these nifty Garland Grabbers) and wreaths on all the windows. I vow to have at least 3 of our 6 fireplace mantles decorated too. And oh, I’m making embroidered velvet stockings for us AND my parents. I’m also contemplating putting garland on our massive long staircase…we’ll see.
Starting next weekend we’re going to work on the garland and wreaths and then the following weekend we’ll do the inside. I say “we”, but honestly C. has no clue what I’ve signed him up to do. Hehe.

Natalie - I’ve been enjoying your blog. I think I came across it on houseblogs or a comment you left on a houseblog site. I live in Lawrenceville and was wondering if you ordered the garland grabbers or if you found them locally.

Nat, it all sounds wonderful ! I absolutely LOVE Christmas anyway….and I love to light up all the windows with a candle in each of them…a large lighted wreatch on the door. big red bow on mailbox with some greenery, etc. Love decorating inside too with touches of Christmas in each room…especially love decorating our Dining Room with the table all set with my Christmas china (Spode Christmas Tree pattern) and red candles. I am getting excited about it all as we speak…love-love-love Christmas, yet I am just as eager to take it all down a few days after Christmas and put house back in order !
