I talk a great deal about MM and her love of cows. Oh my, it is a deep, powerful love. This is her saying, ‘MMMMM’ which sounds pretty dang close to what they actually sound like. {I think that’s because she is around them more than any other animal!}
We’re lucky because there is an 80-acre farm right next to our smaller farm. In fact, our farm used to belong to the family who owned the bigger farm. They are the ones with the cows that MM loves to look at and talk to so much. She and Mamaw ride around in the Mule everyday {sometimes it’s hours everyday} looking at the cows through the fence. Here are just a few of them–they’re beef cattle {our goat pasture is on the other side of the fence in the foreground of the photograph}.
And speaking of goats, here’s our 11. If you look closely you can see the curvy path they walk to and from the pasture each day.
But it’s not all fun and games at the farm. Oh no, there is always something to do. Every other day we have to fill the feeder for the chickens. MM is Pops’ right-hand man girl.
Oh, and there’s always things to do on the tractor. Yes, bush hogging the spring garden to make room for the fall garden is hard work for a little girl, but somebody’s gotta do it.
Okay, I kid. Pops was the one bush hogging the garden, not MM. But doesn’t she look precious on the tractor, nonetheless?
So that is what’s going on at the farm lately. Feeding chickens, collecting eggs, planting seeds, making sure the goats are taken care of, canning {forty dozen so far this year}, watching the little bunny recuperate, getting ready for school fall field trips starting soon, and planning for a cow of our own. The perfect same old, same old.

I just love hearing all the stories about MM on the farm and spending time with her sweet grandparents. Nothing can replace the memories I have of doing the same things with my grandparents at that age. You are giving her memories that will last forever, such a beautiful heritage. The hard work, love and deep appreciation for family and the earth will be engrained in her, making her such a beautifully well-rounded adult one day. Great job Natalie
