Last weekend I got out MM’s potty for the first time (a cute, white Baby Bjorn potty I got as a shower gift). I started putting her on it after I undressed her and as we were waiting for the tub to fill up with water. She would sit there and play with the phone (a treat for her) or “read” one of her books.
I never expected her to actually do anything on it though.
Then Tuesday–the day after she turned fourteen months–she did IT.
“It” being a tinkle. Yes, she tinkled a half-dollar size amount into her potty. I cheered. I clapped. I jumped up and down like a crazy person. She just stared at me until she stood up and realized that there!was!something!in!the!potty! and of course she wanted to touch it. Haha.
And she did tonight–a lot this time–too.
Now, I’m not going to count my chickens before they hatch, but it sure would be fabulous if she potty trained herself. Mother always told me that I did that at 16 months…that one day I just said “Ewww” about the whole diaper thing and started using my potty without any prodding. I would *love* for that to happen.
{And C.? Oh, he was almost 3. Please God, don’t let her be almost 3 when she is potty trained. Please.}

She is a girl, and they always are easier, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that she is easy for you, and she will do it on her own. I’m worried that Weston will be 3, just because…he’s a boy!!
Seriously?! That is amazing. Marshall doesn’t even seem to slow down one bit when he has a full diaper. He could care less and definitely would not sit still on a potty.
Such a smart girl! Good work, MM!
I found the little potty-chairs a much easier way to train my two Granddaughters. They loved sitting in the little chair with a book and just relaxing until “it” happened and they got the hip-hip-hurrahs too !
