Something about the winter makes me want to create. I think it’s all the time spent inside at home. The past two weeks I’ve made burp cloths, two pillowcases, four appliqued shirts, a dish drying mat, and a changing pad. And that was all done after work while MM took an afternoon nap! I can only imagine what I’d sew if I could do it during BOTH her naps…woah!
I saw this dish mat on Darby’s blog, which I *love*. She got the idea from SouleMama’s book, again someone’s blog who I *love*. Here’s my take on it:
It’s perfect for when you take dishes out of the dishwasher and they’re still wet. I used three Henry Glass fabrics that I thought looked cute and vintage. The back is light blue terry cloth. It’s basically a 16″ x 16″ square.
And then I started thinking how I could use something similar on the downstairs bedroom where we change MM.
So I made something close with two Amy Butler fabrics that I love, except the back is chenille. If I made another one I would put a middle layer of flannel just to make even more absorbent in case of accidents. I made it larger at 19″ x 20″.
So, that’s what I’ve been doing lately–being a Suzy Homemaker. Who knows what I’ll be making next.
In other news, am I the only one who could care less about the Super Bowl? C. and I went out to eat dinner, got home after the game started, and watched a little bit of the Puppy Bowl before turning on Criminal Minds. I don’ t even know who’s playing and C. actually thought it was *last* weekend. Ha!
