MM riding the golf cart at my parents’ house this afternoon. Finally, warm sun!
Over at Kelly’s Korner today she did a ‘Show Us Your Ministry’ blog hop. At first I didn’t think I had a ministry…I mean, I don’t often talk about God or my faith on here (though both are obviously very important to me) so I didn’t think I had a ministry.
But perhaps I do.
Maybe, just maybe, I give hope to people. Who knows, maybe I don’t, but I would like to think I do at least a little.
-Hope to an adoptee that they can have biological children. I’m not sure if all adoptees are like me with this–I only know one in real life (Hi, Kate!)–but to me it was so so so very important to have a biological child. Do I think adoption is fabulous in every possible way? Most definitely. Would I adopt if we were unable to have MM? You bet. With that being said though, trying to have a biological child was super important to me and I feel so very blessed to have that. And wouldn’t you know it–God gave her the two things that are unusual about me: a ridiculously big widow’s peak (poor child!) and big, almond-shaped eyes. Everyone says she’s my “Mini Me”.
-Hope to women of ovarian cancer (especially teens)–you CAN have babies! For all those women who have bad ovaries, or only one ovary, or only half of an ovary (moi)–there is proof in me that you can get pregnant. Now granted, it takes a while longer, but we did it that first time with no fertility meds.
-Hope to working moms that you CAN do both. I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to do either–work or family–well when I started back to work last March. And I’m still not 100% sure I do them *well*…I’ll take good. I am a good mom. And that is good enough for me.
-Hope to those rehabing and living in old houses. I hope we show that you can do it on a budget and without killing each other. We also did a complete rehab on our massive old house in 47 days. It usually takes that long just to demo. That’s pretty unheard of and no one thought we could do it. But we did.
So…maybe I do have a ministry after all. To show others that are like me there is hope. At least I hope I do.

Nat, our Minister once said that each of us are ministers to others….and that we should be careful of our behavior so that they can see the good in us.
YOU do your ministering well, Nat !
