At least once a day I think about Christmas. Okay, who am I kidding, I think about it more than that.
From listening to Christmas music to decorating the outside of Brogdon House last Saturday (Don’t worry, I’ll be posting pictures soon!) to my parents getting the tree farm ready, I feel Christmas in the air. And I can’t wait to experience this holiday through MM’s eyes.
I watch her as her eyes open wide when she sees the hanging lights from my mom’s gift shop. Or the way she says ‘Oh Oh Oh’ when she touches the trees at Costco. Or the way she smiles sitting in the sleigh at the farm.
I’ve already decided she’s going to get her very own tree in her room. I’ve got blue and silver ornaments and small twinkly lights for her special tree to match her room. I can just see her falling asleep watching the lights like I did ever holiday season of my own childhood. (And, no worries, she’s never in her room unattended with a tree…just so you know)
I’m busy thinking about family traditions and new ones we want to create. This really is an amazing season and I’m so glad we have MM with us this year.

Today as I got the gift shop ready and MM was in her walker helping me, I could not help but just stand back and see everything the way she saw it…she was so excited and knew this was something really different than our usual days. She LOVED the sleigh…she would just sit and pat the seat..and she just loves Mrs. Claus and Santa(yard art) She wanted to give them kisses over and over again. You know to me it was just yard art, the gift shop was just a gift shop, BUT to MM, this was all new and exciting. I enjoyed seeing all of this through her little eyes. I might add that she also LOVES her wreaths on her playhouse windows. Tonight when Pops turned on the Christmas lights inside the gift shop, I thought my heart would burst, just watching her little eyes taking all this in. Yes, this is going to be a wonderful CHRISTMAS in more ways than one. Thank you God for giving us this wonderful, precious little girl who makes us stop and step back and see things in a whole new perspective, things that we take for granted. I am so thankful for MM and her Mommy! They are and will always be my “little girls”. I love them both so very, very much! Merry Christmas MM. Mimi Loves YOU!!!
