I don’t even recognize myself.
Last year C. and I took a week-long trip to Puerto Rico with only a small backpack for our clothes. Tonight we loaded down the Volvo with so much stuff I doubt we’ll be able to fit in it ourselves. And we’re only going to be gone four nights.
A baby changes everything.
This past weekend was such a great weekend celebrating MM’s Baptism. Her great-grandparents (C.’s grandparents) came up from south Georgia to meet her for the first time too. We had a dinner at our Saturday night, followed by the service Sunday morning, and ended with a spaghetti luncheon in her honor at the church.
Unfortunately, my camera died right before the actual service started so I didn’t get any photographs. Thankfully a woman in the parish did–I’m just waiting to get those. But y’all, it was so beautiful and touching. At first, the godparents and us said our “vows” from our seats. Then the priest had us and all the little kids in the church go to the nave to watch the Baptism. He took MM from me–who was sleeping–said a few words and then used a seashell to pour water on her head. She woke up and just looked at him. He then put oil on her forehead and again, no crying. He told us all to have a seat and then he walked her around the church singing He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands while MM just looked at everyone with those big eyes of hers. It was so beautiful and my heart felt like it was going to burst with happiness.
As soon as I get pictures I’ll make sure to post them, but here’s a couple from Saturday night. Unfortunately, MM hasn’t been feeling well this past week (the doctor said she has allergies) so she threw up all her dinner on her pretty smocked dress and that’s why in one of the pictures she’s in her PJs.
The gown after it arrived at my parents’ house.
The cake and part of the spread for Saturday night.
MM with her cousin Braden (he’s 12 days older).
Opening gifts. Here she is all smiles when she saw that my parents had got her a cross necklace.
